Would you tell us about yourself?
I grew up in Mackay but have now been living in Brisbane for 8 years and I love the outdoors and beach lifestyle we are able to have all year round here. I am a qualified personal trainer and beauty therapist. I love the feeling of helping people achieve their goals.
How did you start training?
I was always active as a kid, I did accumulative 15 years of martial arts, judo and boxing training with my family growing up. I also played alot of netball, and as I got older I joined a gym and loved the feeling I got from strength training.
What do you want to archive by training? Any goals to yourself?
I recently competed in an International Bodybuilding competition over in Las Vegas and I entered two catagories. I came 4th in the world in tall model category. then placed top ten in my bikini category. That was a big goal I set for myself last year. This year my focus is to grow my strength and build more muscle to hopefully bring a better package to the stage next year.
How has running related to your training?
I try to incorporate hill sprints every week to improve my fitness. I used to HATE running, but when it's in short sprints I quite enjoy the challenge of getting to the top of the hill!
Do you remember the first moment you felt “like a fitness person”?
I can't really pin-point an exact moment as I have always been an active person. Of course once I became a personal trainer and began training clients and giving advise that was when I realised I could be an inspiration to others looking to improve their quality of life.
Where is your most favourite gym or training place would like share with us?
I LOVE the gym I work at - Perform 360. My bosses have created a space that incorporates strength, yoga and gymnastics all in one area to train all aspects of your health.
How do you motivate your workout classes?
Think about how GREAT you will feel after finishing an amazing workout session. Nobody regrets a workout.
Would you share us a interesting training story?
I once got chased by a magpie while doing hill sprints. But I kept doing them up the same hill, I just pulled down my hat & had a stick close by just in case! I managed to continue for 20 minutes, the magpie eventually gave up.
What is the number one philosophy you live by?
Life is all about balance. Train smart, stretch out, breathe deep, eat clean, but have fun too. There's no harm in a glass of wine or a little ice-cream. Life is about living. Stop and smell the flowers once in a while.
If we would like you to use one word or one sentence to represent your style, what would it be?
Colourful and simple.
Running or training with music: Yes or no? if yes, would you share us one of your favourite track?
Yes defainately. Something catchy that I can sing to. EDM or hip hop are my picks!
What is your recipes for fitness?
Surround yourself with fitter, like-minded people, fitter people will not only motivate you to work harder, but you will also learn alot from someone more experienced.
If you have a chance to design your own training apparel, what colour and pattern would you want to represent your active lifestyle?
I love black and white with a pop of colour/pattern. Leggings that don't give muffin tops! Leggings that are long enough for people like me with long legs!! Crops with no seams, lots of support and lots of comfort. I love the geometric designs at the moment too.
