We are "Gazelles on the road". our name was born almost for fun: since from the days of athletics and also in the running club, the guys started sweetly and playfully to call us gazelles. why? we are fast and snappy as gazelles, plus we all have long legs!
There are five of us: Paola, Nicole, Maria, Isabella and Claudia. We decided to found our crew in order to share our common passion for sports. The starting point has definitely been running but we are more than just a running crew.
Paola and Isabella practiced athletics for years, Maria is a gym freak now and used to do dance, Claudia tennis and Nicole was a great volleyballer. We got to know each other at the training run of MLN NRC + and from the beginning a great harmony began.
We've also been attending Nike Training Club session in Milano for more than a year and this encourages us to even further improve, both as athletes and people.
How did you start running?
we have started to run due the individual sports that each of us practiced, even before we met. Then we joined the Nike Running Club MLN, and we found out how good it feels to run together.
Do you run alone, mostly, or with a club or group?
We prefer to run together, we think that tunning is not a sport for individuals, but a team sport.
we are not a independent crew, but we belong to the nike running club, which currently is aligned with the line of all the running club with the name of Nike NRC + MLN but was originally known as Red Snakes.
Despite this we have an IG profile managed by us girls and our own projects, and most of all is our real friendship that keeps us going on.
What is your favourite distance?
the distance over which we have all measured is 10k. In fact, only some of us have experienced the excitement of a half marathon, but this is the goal of each of us.
but for all of us, the most beautiful and exciting distance is the 10k.
but in the future who knows: a marathon! We don't know when, but definitely will.
How has running changed you?
running has made us friends, we have changed positively: if the challenges before frightened us, now face them with more courage and determination. the fear for new challenges and adventures is still here, but we can proudly say we are more aware of our value. both on the track and in our every day life.
Do you remember the first moment you felt “like a runner”?
the first time we put on a pair of nike was like being in the right place at the right time. after wearing them and have taken the first steps, you leave your legs going alone. that's how you feel like a runner. a run begins the moment you forget you are running.
What is your running motivation right now?
we motivate each other, and also by looking at the example of great athletes and champions of each athletic discipline and sports, such as Allison felix, Roger federer, Alessia trost, Miriam Albero, Kirsty Godso.
Where is your most memorable running route or place would like share with us?
we would say it is the race the of us ran all together: Brescia. we liked the location and the path, which was quite variegated and touched on different points of the city: the narrow streets of the historic center, the wide boulevards shaded by trees and the arrival in the charming Piazza della Loggia. What made everything much better was not only the sunny weather, but most of all the company of us all. that's why this is definitel the most memorable and beautiful run.
Running with music: Yes or no? if yes, would you share us one of your favorite running track?
we tend to prefer to run without music, both to better hear our breath and our body rhythm , both to hear the sounds that nature sends us.
What is your recipes for fitness?
Just eat ealthy, clean, drink a lot of water and move your body! but without many restrictions of course - we are human, and especially young girls, and most of all we are italian: we almost daily eat pasta, we enjoy our traditional recipes, we rarely say no to a gelato or to a cocktail on a Friday night! Balance is the key. and we think this is so true when it is about fitness and wellbeing.
If you have a chance to design your own running appeals, what colour and pattern would you want to represent your running style?
We love to keep it simple! we Like neutral colors, such as black and white. and we all love prints: so a good combo that could represent us could be black with white prints - dots, lines and animals are our favorites.
But we do love colors: our favorites are red, yellow, salmon pink.
