Would you tell us about yourself?
I am Isabella, I'm 23 years old and I am enthusiastic about life. I love challenges and I always need a goal in order to push myself beyond my limits: this is just one of the many reasons why I started running. To me, running and training hard is more than practicing a sport. It's about passion, commitment, it's about working hard for your dream, and most of all: It's about inspiring other people to push themselves further and further. I study Law at the University of Milan and in few years (hopefully) I see myself as a good lawyer (with Its own passion for agonism). I practice a lot of individual sports such as golf, ski, windsurf, sailing, waterski: But running is still my favourite discipline, and when I can do it with my friends It's even better!
How did you start running?
I start running when I was 10years old: I was winning several middle-distance competitions on athletics track and my mother made me start Athletics. I did it since I was 19 years old , I got the chance to take part at the Italian Athletics Championship twice (both the track and cross country races). When I started the University unfortunately I had to choose between my career as an Athlete and the one as a future lawyer. That's how I left my Athletics experience, and start a new chapter of my life: The one that involves long distance races(10km,21km and hopefully soon the full marathon) and running with my new friends, my CREW LOVE.
Do you run alone, mostly, or with a club or group?
I mostly run with the my (girls only) Running Crew "Gazzelle on the road" and with the Milan Nike Run Club.
How has running changed you?
I think that running has always been part of me, part of eho I am. To me running it's about passion, commitment and push myself beyond my limits. It gives me the chance to know me better, to discover my limits, but it also gives me the willpower to never give up and push harder : wheter it's training time, race time or daily life.
Do you remember the first moment you felt “like a runner”?
I was 10 years old, I was racing on a middle-distance (800mt) race and just when the finish sprint was about to start: I realized that I could have won the race, if I really wanted. And I did it.
Where is your most memorable running route or place would like share with us?
The Copenaghen half Marathon, my first race abroad.
What is your favourite distance?
Would you share us a interesting running story?
My first Half Marathon was a completely memorable experience. It took me 4months to train myself for it. I did it with a friend of mine, we trained together every time. And to us, that distance seemed at the same time something "insane", impossible and also something really challenging. The day of the race we were scared about failing our mission but thrilled about the idea of winning our personal challenge. It had been really hard, especially from the 17th km when I was alone by myself (since my friend was running slower). I was about to quit , I was tired and I had lost my concentration, my faith. Then, I saw the "1km left call" and still today I don't know why and how: but I found some extra strenght I didn't even know I had, and I crossed the finish line with a huge smile on my face and my heart full of joy.
What is your running motivation right now?
