Would you tell us about yourself?
Born in Cape Town, South Africa and I have loved running since I can remember. I was selected to represent my Province; sponsored by Adidas, USN (Body & Protein Supplements) and Falke. I moved to the Netherlands in 2015 with my family and kick-started my running career by joining the Greg van Hest Runshop team. Love the ocean and took up surfing. Enjoy coffee, shopping and travel.
How did you start running?
I took part in cross country during primary school, track in high school and long distance after school.
Do you run alone, mostly, or with a club or group?
I run for Greg van Hest Runshop and we train together in a group. Sometimes smaller groups, but very rarely alone. I believe in training together to motivate each other especially when doing speed work. "Together Stronger" is more rewarding!
How has running changed you?
Running for me is the road to self awareness and self reliance. You push yourself to extremes and learn that you can push your own physical en mental limitations. Running makes me feel strong, happy and free. I run because it brings me to life.
Do you remember the first moment you felt “like a runner”?
Yes, when I joined my first running club, Mr Price. Got my first club colours and official license number:)
Where is your most memorable running route or place would like share with us?
Along the ocean on the Promenade in Sea Point, Cape Town. Starting at the Waterfront towards Hout Bay and back (+-20km). In the Netherlands I enjoy the Oisterwijkse Vennen route through the beautiful woods & alongside some amazing dams (+-20km).
What is your favourite distance?
Half Marathon, it's just perfect, not too long or too short!
Would you share us a interesting running story?
My last race I ran as a man called "Christ". I entered last minute and manage to get in on an injured friends name. I was cheered on as "Christie" and only later I realized they were cheering for me:)
What is your running motivation right now?
I want to improve on all my personal best times this year! From a 5km, 10km, 16km to Half Marathon.
If we would like you to us one word or one sentence to represent your style, what would it be?
Never Give Up!
Running with music: Yes or no? if yes, would you share us one of your favorite running track?
No, I enjoy the sounds of nature:)
What is your recipes for fitness?
It is easier to maintain than starting over. Regular exercises & consistency is the key to keeping fit and stay strong. Always enjoy yourself.... fall in love with the process and the results will come!
If you have a chance to design your own running appeals, what colour and pattern would you want to represent your running style?
I love neon colours for running and inspiring patterns like the most colourful birds of the world (Love birds; Red-necked Tanager & Crimson Rosella) to represent my style "strong, happy & free". Made to fit like a glove to be comfortable and compliment your figure.
